Rain Halts North West 200 - 2013
Sadly torrential rain forced Ireland's premier road race event to be stopped on Saturday 18th May on safety grounds.
The hard-working Coleraine Club members, together with an army of Road Marshals, fought hard to brush the water-logged roads around the nine mile circuit but it became a losing battle. The morning rain gradually became heavier and turned into a downpour from around 2pm. After a lot of consideration, the Race Director, Mervyn Whyte (OBE) officially called a halt to proceedings at around 3pm. Mervyn emotionally thanked Competitors, Sponsors and his army of volunteers and thousands of race fans for coming to the event and braving such terrible weather in the hope that things would improve. The first race (Supersport 600) got underway in good time after road closing but was stopped at the end of lap two on the grounds of safety because of standing water. Michael Dunlop, leading on the road was declared as winner. For a full listing of results from Thursday and Saturday plus qualifying times please click here.

Each of our road races have their own blend of uniqueness but all promise the same friendliness in the paddock and around the track - this is what makes motorcycle racing in Ireland so special. Despite the conditions today, all around the track everyone remained in good spirits and were still determined to make the most of the day as can be seen in some of the photographs we have recorded above. Good luck to everyone in the Coleraine Club - we all look forward to joining you again in 2014. ________________________________________________________________

Great day's racing at the Tandragee 100
The hard working North Armagh Club provided a great day's racing at this year's Tandragee 100 last Saturday, 4th May.
The local weather was a little cool for the time of year but the action on the track was as hot as it could be... thousands of road race hungry fans were treated to superb racing from the off. Michael Dunlop took two very deserved wins - the first coming in the first 'Open' race of the day and the second being the Superbike Feature Race. However, the race of the day was the 600cc Supersport event. At the finish it was was Wayne Kirwin who got the chequred Photos - Mervyn McBride
flag but it was a six lap sensation with Michael Pearson, Derek Magee and Derek Shiels giving it their best to get the win - super stuff which bodes well for a lot more enjoyment as the rest of the season unfolds. Mark Hanna from Antrim took the honours in the Junior Support race. Jamie Hamilton stretched his superiority in the Supertwins class with another win while William Dunlop had a convincing win in the concurrently run 250cc race.

CS Clancy Centenary Ride - Round the World Trip !
The Ulster Centre would like to express its best wishes to author and adventurer Geoff Hill and popular ex-Racer Gary Walker who will commence their round the world motorcycle adventure on Monday 25th March from Belfast. This fantastic trip, sponsored by ADELAIDE INSURANCE, is being held to commemorate the same journey which CS Clancy and Walter Storey undertook 100 years ago riding a 934cc (7hp) 1912 Henderson, probably the fastest bike in the world at that time. Geoff and Gary will, as far as possible, re-trace the journey which Clancy and Storey undertook. To read more and keep up to date with their progress in the coming weeks, please click here.
